In 1974 the Bolton Polythene & Paper Bag Company was providing chip trays, plastic cutlery, polythene and paper bags to traders and the general public. A hard working enthusiastic salesman was convinced that he had the determination and drive to create a successful company.

Critical to the success of the business is the ability to track changes in environmental legislation and customer demand. Even in 1984, the late Managing Director & Chairman Harry Jenkins together with Roy Wallwork were prepared to invest in sophisticated machinery (balers & extruders) to satisfy the potential demand for recycled polythene.

In 1990 the Roydon Group evolved further and formed Roydon Granulation. John Davies joined Roy and Harry to develop this market opportunity and Roydon now enjoys the enviable position of being the leading recycler of PET in the UK.

Based upon the market requirement for post domestic waste collection, Roydon Polythene (Exports) was formed in 2000. This enabled the group to demonstrate its social responsibility by developing overseas partnerships in order to guarantee best practice for both recycling and operative safety.

As the need for cost effective and responsible waste managment increases, the Roydon Group have again recognised this change in customer demand.

In 2005 we formed Roydon Recycling which is focused upon providing complete solutions in waste management.

The board of Directors are rightly proud of their achievements to date, but are equally excited by the challenges that they and their staff will face in the future.
